This site was launched in 2018 for several reasons:
- To let voters know that in most states they can vote at home
- To let all voters know how they might escape poll lines
- To help voters understand why voting on paper is safer, cheaper and easier than voting on a computer
In 2020, information about voting by mail is even more important because of COVID-19 risks and rampant misinformation.
This site is a labor of love. 😎
I live in a state that votes 100% by mail or, as the Washington Monthly calls it, allows its citizens to “vote at home.” At the time I launched this site, I worked for King County Elections (2011-2019).
I’ve been involved in civic life since I was a teen (debate team) and worked in DC as an intern in college before becoming a federal (and then state) lobbyist. I’ve worked in and around government for most of my career (with a detour into the tech sector).
